My lower dentures I just do like I always did all my life. I brush, floss, that sort of thing. No extra problems that are not removable, and upper ones I have to remember to take them out at night. They're so comfortable. When I first put them in, you walk in and you walk out with teeth. You're not going for a week or two without any teeth, so you have to come back in a couple weeks and kind of do a little tweaking, the final adjustment. And that's the only time now in 12 years. He's never done anything, and I forget I have them.
It gives you your old personality back. I'm not going to say it changes it, but yeah, you don't mind smiling or talking or ... it just changes you. If puts you back like you were originally.
Yeah, I can remember as a child I really hated going to the dentist, but my folks insisted. We had regular dental checkups, and dental hygiene and dental care has changed over the years, but Dr. Hoop, his staff puts you at ease. He will constantly ask you when you're in the chair, if he's drilling out a filling or prepping a tooth for a cap, he'll ask you, "Are you in any pain? Do we need to stop? Is everything all right?" Very, very focused on the patient and patient care.
Good teeth, good gums are very, very important to your overall health. With his help we have improved our oral health, our gums, and see him on a semiannual basis. I just think, in summary, he is a very, very caring man, and a very caring dentist, and he's very, very good at what he does.
I had a reference from my next-door neighbor when we were talking about dental problems, and he told me about Dr. Hoop.
So, I made an appointment, and one visit, I really like talking to him. He's a personalized guy, he just, all my anxieties were gone. One visit. And then I made a appointment, and I had all my work done in the next several months. Never had any problems, and that's been 10 years.
He's a real personalized guy. I mean, it's like you know him and his family, and he's just a personal guy. When he sits down beside and talks to you before he starts, you just feel like you know him and you're good friends, right off the bat. So, he's a, he's really a good personal person.
I never compared any other’s people’s plans or anything, because after that first visit with Dr. Hoop, you know, I was relieved of anxiety, relieved of everything, and I wanted to get on with it. The whole procedure was painless, I wasn't left without any teeth when I walked in and I walked out with dentures.
I did have to have them adjusted one time, but now they're, I can almost forget they're in there. You know, I have to remember to, I take them out at night, so I have to remember to do that. I forget.
I'm really glad that I found Dr. Hoop. I need to go back and thank my neighbor over and over again that I picked this office and I picked this dentist and this staff. It was a life-changing experience to find this practice here.
Dr. Hoop, in our opinion, is the best dentist we have ever found. We had a family dentist for a number of years in the northeast and thought we're getting good care. Went to them for semiannual teeth cleaning and checkups. We got here as a result of my wife's problem and discovered Dr. Hoop. The first thing he said to me and the impression he made on me, he says, "Has anybody ever talked to you about your bite?" They took a series of pictures after the cleaning, a series of X-rays. Dr. Hoop came in and reviewed each one of those. He brought up the most problematic teeth in my mouth at the time, and he sat back and he said, "What are your goals? What do you want to do with your mouth?" and he gave me options. No pressure. He said, "You can go along about your way," and he said, "When you have a problem, come on in and we'll take care of it. Or you can be proactive and we can put together a very comprehensive dental plan to get your mouth where it should be."
So with his help, he very methodically said, "Here's what you got going on. Here's what you need to take care of right now. Here's what you can live with probably the rest of your life." So over a period of about a year and a half, he completely changed my bite, different colored caps that were put in my mouth. So with his help, I've got a different bite, a different look, and a great set of teeth. I was very, very self-conscious of my smile. Anytime I'd smile, I usually smile with my mouth closed and not show my teeth. I'm very competent when I smile now, and I, on purpose now, I try to show my teeth when I do smile, just to show off his work and how proud I am of my teeth now, where I never was before.
Well, I had a lot of teeth that were missing on my upper. My front teeth, one of them was broken off something terrible. But I had to find a dentist. Because I don't like dentists. And I searched and I searched, and finally I talked to some people and they said go up here. So I came up here, and it's been a great experience.
Well, first of all, I'm like a lot of people. I don't like going to the dentist. This is the only dentist I'll come to for the simple fact that the office staff here is very, very good. They're very helpful. They're calming.
But I had never been here, and my overall experience was that when I walked in the door, they greeted you with a smile, called you by name, and they really kinda treated you like family. When they took me back in the room, they wanted to know my particulars of was I having any pain or anything. I mean, they were genuinely concerned about what I was here for, and it was reassuring.
For someone who has great fear of the dentist, which is me, I can't say enough about the staff here. They've been absolutely great. And then the combination of Dr. Hoop and the staff is absolutely a winning combination. I would advise anybody that has any dental problems whatsoever to come see Dr. Hoop.
We like coming to this practice, my wife and myself. First of all, we're snow birds. We've lived in southwestern Florida for the past five years and go back to the northeast in the summertime, where we normally see a dentist there. Unfortunately, three years ago, my wife broke a tooth about a week before we were about to leave for the northeast. So we Googled the top 10 best dentists in southwest Florida. Dr. Hoop was right on the top.
So we came here, a new patient, we told them we only had a week before we were going home, and they got us in. They understood our problem and took care of her broken tooth, and we were very, very impressed, not only with Dr. Hoop and his service – there was no pain. She got great service, but his receptionist understood that we had to leave within a week. They moved some people around, got her in, got the service that was top shelf, and we have had great service beyond that.
I've had several people ask me in the two communities we've lived in in southwestern Florida, you know, "Have you found a dentist down here, and if so, what are the results?" And we have recommended to several of our friends to come here, and they have also recommended to their friends to come here, and the results have been very, very positive. I was confident that they were gonna get the same results that I did and have the same experience I did, and they have. He has a very, very professional staff, from the receptionist, the hygienist, the people that help them with the different procedures, and of course himself.
When I fell, I injured my mouth severely. And so I called the office, and they worked me in immediately. Dr. Hoop and his staff saw how bad the injury was. And they spent an inordinate amount of time, I'm talking hours, on that first visit just to save the teeth that he could. It was an immediate response to my emergency.
When I came into the office after I fell, I was terrified. I was in a lot of pain. I knew that the injuries were severe. And I was very afraid that I was going to lose all my teeth. And when I walked in the door, the receptionist could sense immediately how frightened I was and how severe the injury was. They took me right back.
As soon as I sat in the chair, Dr. Hoop was there. He was there to make sure that I was as comfortable as I could be physically before he began his assessment of my damage and what treatment he could do for me on an emergency basis. It was the best emergency care I've ever received for anything. He made me feel comfortable, and he certainly gave me some hope that I would be able to smile again.
After I fell, and I was so afraid that I was going to lose my teeth, I spent the first 30 days with my hand over my mouth. And gradually as the work progressed, I was able to be more comfortable with my appearance. And when we finally got finished, Dr. Hoop said, "Now, go ahead and look in the mirror, Erleene, and let's see. I want you to see your smile." And I had been so afraid to do that for so long.
When I finally saw the end result, I was so grateful and so touched. It was important to me to be able to feel confident when I went out in public. And to be able to interact with my friends and my family. And for me not to be ashamed of the way I look. And today, lots of people don't smile. But I do a lot. And I smile because of Dr. Hoop.
I had really extensive dental surgery here before I got my new additions, and then he was like pulling 14 teeth all in one morning. From the outset, it sounds terrible. I didn't feel a thing. It was great.
The first thing was he said, "We obviously have to remove your teeth you were born with." I kind of was a little surprised because I didn't think he'd do 12 or 14 teeth in one morning. I thought it'd be one at a time. I was under a misconception, I guess. He says, "You won't feel a thing. It'll all be done in quickly. Okay? There'll be no pain." Son of a gun, he was right. There was no pain.
Right after the removal of the teeth, he had the new temporary bridge on hand. It was amazing because he must have taken – that I forgot to mention – impressions beforehand so I could get a bridge made, a temporary bridge. It was like walking in, buying a set of teeth, and leaving. It was so natural, and I adapted very well to the fitting. It was no going back and forth with changes and so forth. It was just as good as the one I have permanent now.
Number one, he helps because there was no mystery in it. I knew what to expect right from the start. Of course, he's very pleasant to be with. He puts you at ease right away. He's really thorough. He did an excellent job. I certainly will recommend him to anyone that asks.
Dr. Hoop is amazing in his ability to set you at ease and to be totally upfront with you. He's totally upfront about what it is that needs to be done, how he hopes to accomplish the task, how long it's going to take. If there's any financial considerations, his office is more than willing to work with you on your particular issues. Dr. Hoop is a consummate professional. But he does it with an easy, easy armchair way. You know, I never felt like I was asking the wrong question, I never felt like I was being intimidated, I just felt like he has a bedside manner that he could make a million dollars if he could teach it to everybody, I'll tell you.
I love coming to this practice because Dr. Hoop and his staff put you at ease. They're completely professional, and at no time are you left questioning what needs to be done and how long it's going to take to do it and what your responsibility as a patient is. When I came to Dr. Hoop as a patient, I was treated like I was the only person in the room by his staff, from the ladies at the reception desk and to the ladies that checked out. His entire staff treated me as though I was the most important person in the room that day. And they continue to do that. They're cheerful and professional, and caring and very compassionate. And everyone that I've recommended that has actually come to Dr. Hoop – and there have been several – I've had absolutely glowing comments from every one of them.
They've all said, "Gosh, we wish we would have found him earlier." So I'm happy to recommend he and his staff to anybody that comes along.
When you have bad teeth, you don't really know everything that's going on, but people looking at you can tell 'cause it's right up here. It's right here. It's not on the end of your toe or anything. But also things like your breath and things like that change, but it's an anxiety that makes you want to keep putting it off, and you can put it off. You can keep putting this off when you know you should do it.
I was at the point where – I never had toothaches – but I was at the point where I had to do something 'cause it wasn't a pleasant smile, and it was changing my personality.
The tooth extractions, the first visit, I didn't really even know that that happened. That was no pain, no anything. I mean, if there's going to be pain, he has ways of taking care of pain, and you don't really know it. You just feel more healthy. I think it's really good to get rid of bad teeth.
My first visit put me at ease just talking to Dr. Hoop, and he had given me a plan, that's what we did the first time. We had a plan, and this is what he could do, and this is how he could save my good teeth and give me a smile back. So after my first visit, I had no anxiety. Matter of fact, I wanted to come sooner than he could schedule me. I wanted to get here and get it done, which is a big turnaround from what I've had for five years before that.
It is the first observation that I had of my condition, was he flashed it on a screen of all the X-rays that he had taken, and he said, “There is no hope for your upper teeth; they're all going. The best advice I can give you now is bite the bullet, and do it, and get it done, because you'll be much happier. You'll be able to chew without pain.” So, I'm delighted that I've gone through this procedure with Dr. Hoop, and it's because it made my life better. It made a big difference.
I was always afraid to sit down and have dinner. It was at that point. And what he did was, to me, just short of miraculous because I didn't know he could do it so well, and explaining every step along the way. So, I never had any apprehension about it, no fear. He did a great job. Actually, my lower teeth, he said, are fine, except one thing. I was in the army, I was in Korea, and in 1952 when I entered the army, they pulled out two teeth on both sides in the back, because in those days, they didn't fill your teeth, they just pulled them. And so, I always had blanks back here all my life, because I went in at 18 years old.
He fitted me with the lower bridge, which I never, since I was 18, had a full set of teeth, and now here I am. But it worked out very well, because he took care of a problem I didn't even address in my mind, but he did, okay. So, it ended up wonderfully. But as I said before, he put me at ease immediately, only because he explained everything, and he showed me everything. He gave me the why’s and wherefore’s of why it should be done. I did not get the impression that he was drumming up business at all. I got the impression he really wanted to help me, and I was sold. I was just sold.
You know, one of the silver linings to my accident is that prior to the time that I became Dr. Hoop's patient, I was dental phobic, and I had neglected my mouth for a long time because I was afraid to come to the dentist. I had some bad experiences back in the dark ages when I was a young person, and I have not tended to my mouth as I should have, and I know that. Dr. Hoop didn't make me feel ashamed of that lack of care, but because I've been through so much here at this office with all of his staff – gosh, I come in regularly, have my teeth cleaned, and take care of my issues as soon as they arise, where before because I was so scared of the dentist, I waited until the very last minute before I would go. Even though I've had some pretty fair dental care, I just have never felt comfortable before going to the dentist on a regular basis until I came here.
I came here because they do do the twilight, and I'd never had the twilight done before. And I can highly recommend the twilight. Well, the twilight was a ... they gave me a prescription for three pills. And you took one the night before. And I assume that's to help you sleep some. And then the next morning about an hour, hour and a half before you come to the office, you take the other two. They came out and got me. I was in the waiting room. And they took me back. And I remember sitting down in the chair. And I remember her wiping some things on my upper gum. I asked what that was for. And she said, "Well, that's to kinda numb it." I don't remember anything after that. I mean, it was phenomenal. They woke me up and I went home. You have to have a driver. My wife brought me here, and she had to take me home. But it was miraculous what he did under that sedation. That was phenomenal. That's one of the main reasons why I came here. By taking the medication, it's not a problem. And I would advise everyone who has a fear of a dentist to come to this office.
I'd always had problems since I was a young man, and like most of us, we put off dental work. You know, put off, and busy in work, busy raising a family, and finally, I was talking to a neighbor about, “I have to do something.” They told me about Dr. Hoop, and so I made an appointment.
From the time I met him, no problems whatsoever. He took care of everything, no anxiety, and I'm just so much better off. It actually sort of changed my life. It was a life-changing thing to get this work done.
He removed the bad teeth and kept all the good ones that he thought that he could save, and he told me that this procedure, he thought he could get me seven more years out of what I've got. You know, it's been 12 years, and I'm still like brand-new.
You know, I'm really happy with my experience here.
One of the things that Dr. Hoop's staff does, the dental hygienist, after she gets done cleaning your teeth, in addition to X-rays, they also have a camera that looks like a pen, put that in your mouth, and will take a photograph of each of the teeth that she felt were a concern and wanted Dr. Hoop to take a look at. And we had never had that done before. It was just a cleaning, a series of X-rays, and the dentist would come in and said, "Well, here's my concerns: you can live with this or live with that."
With this dental staff, their approach is they want to make sure that you are well aware of everything that's going on in your mouth. Seeing those pictures of the inside of my mouth and the condition of my teeth that I thought were in pretty good shape, it didn't take long before we understood that we had some serious work that I had to have done in my mouth, my wife as well. And we have since got that corrected with Dr. Hoop's help.
Every one of Dr. Hoop's staff are top shelf. Right from the receptionist to the hygienist, the people that actually help him if you're having a filling, or a root canal, or a cap put on, we have been treated with the upmost respect. And the thing that really impressed us the most is the day after the procedure, and I don't care if it's just getting a filling, getting a cap, or it could be a very long procedure in the chair, his staff will call you the next day to see how you're doing.
Dr. Hoop cares about how that procedure went and how you're doing the next day, and if there's any problem, he wants you right back here.
If I were to describe his bedside manner, besides being an angel, it would be like a teddy bear. A teddy bear that you trust and who magically has these skills that – not magically, they're God-given. He has done so much with my mouth that others would have given up. He was so patient, his staff were so patient with me. The very first time I met Teresa, she is so lovely. I'd been having a meltdown at home because I was going to take approximately seven or eight apparently seemingly good teeth out of my mouth because something underneath had gone wrong. I tried to compose myself as best I could because I felt like I was almost jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I thought I was going to walk in and ... poor Teresa had to deal with me, as they were going to take my front teeth out and I was a little emotional. She's been very kind every time. The whole staff has been, so I very much appreciate it.
So we went down a long road and here I sit, and I just got these a couple of days ago, or last week or so. I'm so happy. This is about the fourth or fifth time I've had these front teeth removed in about 14 years or so, or 12 years, or however long it's been. So it's good to be able to smile and eat and stuff.
The practice, as I understood it, was very highly recommended by former patients because I moved here from New Jersey about three or four years ago, and I needed all new medical assistance, and I didn't know where to go, who to go to. But I heard his name being recommended pretty highly, and so I chose him to do my procedure, which was very lengthy, took about a year. My initial visit was very pleasant. The staff was very friendly, and after the first visit, after the doctor explained the entire procedure, I felt very confident in his abilities to help me get through this mess I had with my teeth.
From the outset, the staff was very welcoming. I mean, it was like they had a script almost. They made you feel at ease pretty quickly. The overall impression was the staff was really handpicked because they all knew their jobs well, and they all knew how to treat a patient with open arms. I would recommend him immediately to anybody that asked. The first thing I would do to a person seeking advice was to smile and say, “Look what he did for me,” because I never used to smile very much.
So, it's a life-changer. If you want to feel at ease, this is the doctor to go to. He takes all the fear away, takes all the anxieties away through communication, and it just worked beautifully. So, I have no problem at all recommending him to anyone that would ask and feeling good about it.
What I had done is on my upper gum, I had several teeth missing. I had some that were broken off even with the gum. The other ones were just in bad shape. I even still had a wisdom tooth. He completely took care of that. He had to do some cutting. He had to stitch it up, but with the miracles of modern medicine, I didn't feel a thing.
I used to have a partial, and it was relatively easy to put up with. What was really strange was the day he pulled all my teeth, my full upper plate was ready, and he put it in. I walked out of here with teeth in my mouth. Now it felt like I had a big cotton ball in my mouth because I wasn't used to it. Then there needed to be a couple minor adjustments made, which is, as I understand it, is very common because you have swelling, and then they go down. Came in. He wanted to know exactly where I was having problems. I told him, and he fixed them.
It took about a month, but now I don't even know they're in there. I love them. As a matter of fact, my wife and I went out to dinner yesterday. I felt really good being able to eat. I've been able to eat everything I wanted to eat and still have a full plate up there.
A year and a half ago, I had a really bad fall. So I came to Dr. Hoop as a new patient with an extreme emergency. I'm a little dental phobic, so the fact that my mouth was totally crushed, and then I had to go to a dentist to have the work done, was a really stressful and fearful time for me.
When I walked into this office, his staff and Dr. Hoop treated me with such respect and with such care and gentle compassion. It put me at ease for the months and months and months of work that I've had to have done.
If it hadn't been for Dr. Hoop and his staff, I would've lost all of my teeth. It was a simple fall, but I happened to land wrong, and it was a really traumatic situation for me. But since I've come to the office, I'm able to come in and have my teeth cleaned, fillings done, and I have a smile that I'm proud of instead of being ... walking around with my hand over my mouth, which I had to do for some time because it was really just a terrific incident.
I can't say enough about how grateful I am that I was able to come in here and I found him, and he's taken such excellent care of me. And I would certainly encourage anybody that's listening to this to come to the office and meet him and the staff. It'll be the best thing you've ever done for yourself.
Well, what's it like now seeing my smile again? It feels like freedom. It feels like now I can finally speak. I can finally smile. I can eat. Hopefully I'll start gaining weight a little bit.
I have a line of communication now with others that I almost lost because you tend not to smile if you don't want to show your teeth. The good part about that is you talk less and then you listen more, so you use your two ears instead of your mouth, so there's always a good side to every coin.
So I could choose to have a pity party and look at what I don't have, or I could know that Dr. Hoop and his staff are working on it, and they're diligent, and they've got this. I mean, if this isn't a miracle, I don't know what is.
The implant was as a result of another crown that I had years ago from a root canal that had just deteriorated. I let it go too long. It just came down to that, another root canal wasn't going to be enough to remedy the situation so that's why I went with the implant. I've been sold on implants at the previous corporate run dental offices and the way it was explained to me, the process and the materials being used, wasn't to my satisfaction. I didn't want to go down that path, but the way that Dr. Hoop explained how the implant process goes, the materials and the sterilization of the materials, it put me at ease. Again, with his care and compassion, even the technology that he uses here is very impressive, which, again, made the decision to proceed with the implant easy for me.
Not once, have I had the feeling that Dr. Hoop or his staff is trying to oversell me on anything that I didn't need. Coming into the office, just being in this actual physical environment of this office is not like the other offices I've been to, at least in this area. It's very relaxing, very homelike. The staff puts you at ease. They are very personable. They are very friendly and it's not just, you're another patient coming in the door, it's almost like your part of the family here.
I had a five tooth bridge when I came to Florida and it was because I had a root canal on one of my front teeth and the other front tooth I ended up with an infection by the root of the tooth. It went into a nerve, so it went into a facial never, so I had this horrible pain along the side of my face and they found out it was the last tooth of the bridge.
It went from a five tooth bridge then it became a seven tooth bridge when I had the problem with the anchor tooth and it made a big difference. It's just the appearance, without knowing that it's anchored, that it's lasting, that it matches the other teeth. I would think that it's difficult when the top ones are a bridge and the bottom ones are mine to match them up and I think he's done a very good job, I don't feel that ... You know, sometimes when you see people and their teeth are very, very white and the teeth around them aren't quite so white, I think that would make me feel very self conscious. This way I don't feel self conscious at all, they're just my teeth.
It makes a big difference in how you feel about yourself, how you're able to chew food, I don't have to worry about chewing things. I have this real thing with false teeth and that's what my dentist in New York was saying, 'Well after this bridge we'll have to go with false teeth.'
If there's different ways of doing something he'll go through each step of 'You could do this, maybe we could do this, this would work,' but he gives you options which I like. I prefer to do the work right away rather than do something that's gonna hold me off for a while. At my age you want to keep all the teeth you can.
I would highly recommend him to anybody who asks, 'Do you know a dentist?' I have a fantastic dentist for you, he can do if you need periodontal work, if you need regular dental work, he can do it all and nice office, nice people and I tell them they'll love it.
I've had crowns for many, many, many years, and they just started to go underneath, started to get cavities. He was able to take them off, take care of whatever was underneath, and re-crown everything. He matches them perfectly. Once they're in, they feel like they're your own. They don't feel funny. They don't feel like something different's in your mouth. From the time he puts them in to the time you walk out the door, they're your own. The main thing is he doesn't hurt me. Whatever he does, he's very patient. You just go oomph just a little bit. He immediately stops. He'll give you more pain medicine, and he's just great.
They're very kind and very caring, very friendly. I just feel very good when I come here. He has his own dental savings plan, and it helps very much with the cost of dental work. You pay for that, and then you get percentages off whatever procedure you need done. That's very helpful. I have recommended him to different people, and they have come here. They think he's great also.
When I first came to him I hadn't gone to the dentist in a long, long time and he got me back on the right track, basically saved my teeth. I had periodontal disease, or gingivitis I guess, whatever you want to call it, and he did surgery. I mean I had pain after, but it was nothing I couldn't handle and it healed very well. I came back a couple days later and they checked me, and they always call me. Even if I just have a cleaning, they call me two days later, 'How you doing? Everything okay?' 'Yep,' which I appreciate. It tells me they care.
Every three months I come in here and get my teeth cleaned and checked and it's been that way for ever since I've been coming here. They definitely do a good job. I've had no more gum bleeding, learned to take care of my teeth better, so kudos to him. Like I said, he's very good, very thorough, and I really enjoy his sense of humor, his professionalism, and everybody that works here it's the same way.
We moved here from Miami about 10 years ago. I found a dentist. I've been to two dentists. We just weren't getting the same service that we're used to in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area. Fortunately, I met Dr. Hoop. I really liked him. I like Dr. Hoop because the fact that he gives us some options, tells us you could do this and have this result, or you could do this, have this result. I recommend this result, this process. I really had a great first experience with him. I think it was with a cracked tooth. I think that's what started it. The other dentist proposed that I do a veneer, which I wasn't too interested in doing. Dr. Hoop gave me a few different options. One of them was bonding, which he did about seven years ago. To this day, it's still working, so very happy with it.
I think that the most valuable trait of Dr. Hoop is that he does give you choices. He'll tell you the benefit pros and cons of those choices. He's not telling you, hey, listen, we need to replace that tooth. He's saying, listen, this is what I recommend. However, you can choose not to do this, and this may happen. There's no force. It's your decision.
I've been coming here, I think, for four or five years. I've had crowns, I've had things replaced in my mouth, and regular dental cleaning. I've also had some crowns from other dentists that have cracked. I was eating popcorn and I thought I had a kernel of popcorn in my mouth, but no. A crown had broken in half, I had a jagged edge, it was uncomfortable. It kept catching on the inside of my cheek every time I bit down. I called, they saw me at their other office the very next day and put on a temporary. I have veneers on my upper teeth, and so I was very particular about getting those crowns matched to my teeth, and so was he. He actually brought me into a different office with the man who does his crowns for him in a lab, and had me go outside with this gentleman to make sure that the color was absolutely perfect before they created this crown.
My smile's important to me, everything had a match. I can't remember which one it was, so I thought the outcome was above what I was expecting. Really good. The temporaries that he's put on have never fallen out. Very comfortable. Sometimes you get that bite where you know something's not quite right, and it's irritating and constantly running your tongue over it. It's never been my experience. Even with the temporary, it's very comfortable. They always make sure I feel good before I walk out of the office. They really make sure before you go that everything's go. Then the next day, my phone rings. It's like, 'Hello, it's Donna. Just calling to see how you feel and if everything's good. Do you need anything?' Start to finish, the whole procedure, really great.
I would say that it was failure to take care of my teeth when I was younger. These things come back to haunt you, but I had to keep getting teeth pulled, pulled, pulled, pulled. On this side of my mouth in upper and lower, I had teeth that did not oppose each other, meaning when you close your mouth, your teeth close down like this. Well, I would have a tooth missing there or I had a tooth missing here. I only had two teeth. Well, that's not enough to chew your food. Not only that, but my teeth were loose. With that motion, you couldn't put a crown on them. He had to pull them and then put this bridge in. It was very painless, because I came in for a consultation with Dr. Hoop. He explains everything that he's going to do. Not only does he explain what he's going to do, but he tells you why he's going to do. He just took me through. He walked me through the process. This is what we're going to do. On the second visit, we're going to do this. The third visit, we're going to do the fitting, because he had the product back from the lab.
It was very simple. It was painless. Like I said, nobody's excited about coming to the dentist, but if you're going to go to the dentist, then it behooves you to use somebody that's really looking out for your interest. It worked very well. It has worked very well. It's just great to be able to sit and be able to enjoy a meal and be able to actually chew your food. That works for me.
I have four crowns, and one that I need to be done soon. Usually my teeth get cracked, and like this last one, I like the equipment they use. They show me up on a TV screen exactly where it's cracked, what's going on. Like I said before, he's very thorough and explains everything very good, very clear, very painless. I come in, they take a mold, and put a temporary on, and then about two weeks later I come back, they put the permanent one on. I've never had one fall off, always matches, and yep. Fits good. Like I said, I've never had to come back for one not fitting right or feeling anything like that. Come and see Dr. Hoop. He's the best dentist in town, hands down.
If I wanted to save the tooth, I had a root canal done and a crown put on. It was easy and as painless as it could have been. Dr. Hoop, when he does a procedure and most procedures you have to be numbed up for, if he just sees me squint my eyes, 'Are you okay? Do you need more?' Yeah, that's very very important.
All on my top are crowns and one on the bottom. In the beginning from a financial point, he did sections at a time that were major, major as far as the crowns being done which was very good, and now he has a discount dental plan that you pay for yearly. That is really, really a big, big help towards paying a lot of the bill. It's very good. It really is. It definitely pays for itself, definitely, and then some.
I think when you look for a dentist, nobody likes to go to doctors particularly, and I'm certainly in that camp. But when I come here, I know, I have a lot of confidence that they're going to correct my problem, that they're going to do it in a way that's going to minimize discomfort, which is a big deal for me, and they're going to do it at a price that's reasonable. It's kind of an overlay to that because I've been coming here now almost 13 years, it's a very welcoming environment. You walk in a door and you just sort of know people care and they're trained to make sure you're taken care of.
He always knows exactly what I need, and he'll tell you, 'Well, we can do this in the short term or we can do this in the longterm. And if I were you, maybe I'd take the short term solution right now because that might work out just great for you.' I mean, it's never, 'Well, here's the only thing we can do for you.' He always sits down and says, 'Here's your situation. We can do this short term, we can do that longterm. But maybe we ought to try the short term thing for a while because it may work out better than we think.' From a financial standpoint, I think that's terrific, because longterm solutions are usually more expensive than short term ones, you know.
You can make your own decisions. He will suggest, if it's really a problem he thinks you really need to get done. I've been coming here long enough to know that if Dr. Hoop says, 'You really should do this.' I know I really should do that. You know what I mean? Because he wouldn't recommend it if he really didn't believe that was the solution that was required to solve my problem. I trust him implicitly in that.
What we did, about two years ago I think, was we signed up for a dental savings plan that Dr. Hoop put together. I think it's a very smart plan. You get deductions on this or that. You get certain cleanings thrown into the deal, which is terrific. The plan seems to cover what he anticipates the patients that he handles will need. I think he wants to encourage you to come to the dentist. So he tries to make those things you need to do a little more affordable than they might be otherwise. I think from a practical standpoint, maybe better than just normal insurance; personal opinion, but that's what I think.
I've been coming here 20 years plus and he was relatively new in town when I started here. He was a totally different experience. I took one look at this big man with his big hands and I thought, 'This isn't gonna be good.' Then he worked on my mouth and I didn't even know he was in my mouth. He's gentle. He never hurts. He's got a great personality. I think he's a perfectionist. He approaches dentistry with a conservative mind.
I just like everything about him. Plus, I came when his wife was his receptionist and his kids were little. Those kids are now- One graduated college already. I guess maybe they both have. I've been here a long time, known him a long time, and my husband comes to him as well. We're very happy with this practice, plus all the people who work in here are really great people.
He's done root canals, which I guess in all the work I've had done in my mouth root canals might be the most dreaded. But it's not bad with him at all. I mean, he's done root canals, he's done fillings, he's done ... bridges. It wasn't painful at all. Even when he gives you a shot, he's really good at that. That, to me, is always the worst part. But he is so good at that that you almost don't know he's given you a shot.
Even when he does probing, you can't even tell he's doing it. I've never had anyone probe my teeth without knowing it. Usually it's a little bit uncomfortable. Not with him. If you're apprehensive about going to the dentist, this is the man.
They're just the best. They really are. From the moment you walk in, it's always hello, and they're right on time. I mean, you never wait in this office, which is a lot. You can go, as you well know, to other doctor's office, and you could be there for 30 minutes to an hour before you get in. You're not here more than five minutes, and you're back. Everybody just knows what they do and they do it well. Well, he's got a dental plan that you can buy every year, and then it's so much off that when you have a procedure done. You get two cleanings with that every year, which is a lot. I mean, every year dental work goes up more and more.
Because you pay top dollar for this, you want someone that's really good. We always pay his dental. It's a dental plan you can join, and then it's a percentage off of what you have done. He is not just thinking about your teeth. It's an overall process that he goes through, that he's checking all the things that need to go with your teeth, but you only get really one set of teeth. You want to go to the best.
Dr. Hoop just gives you a comfort feeling that he really knows how to take care of people's teeth and dental challenges along with the fact that some of us are a little older and we have some other medical challenges going on. Dr. Hoop has helped even out my teeth by extending some of them that had been chipped off due to my falling, due to bad dizzy spells, when I fall either into a wall or into the floor. He's helped address it, try to put me back closer to normal than I was. We're just comfortable with Dr. Hoop and we just don't see changing and hope he does not move out of the area. That would be a challenge for us.
When I turned 65, I lost my dental insurance, because once I went on Medicare, all the insurances that I had for my work went away. Well, he came up with this dental savings plan that he uses for his clients, his long-term clients that don't have insurance. And this is his plan. It's not a plan that I can go out here and buy off the market. This is simply for his clients in his office.
That's been a tremendous savings for me, because I get 30% off. Let us say, for instance, a certain service would cost $1,000 for this procedure or service. Well, I'm going to get 30% off of that. If you have dental insurance, and let's say you've got a $1,000 or $1,500 maximum for the year, well in that one visit, you're just going to wipe out your insurance plan, and you've got to wait, now, for the next calendar year in order to get any other work done.
So, I'm not a genius. I mean, if I knew when I was going to need insurance, I would buy it just before I needed it, but we don't know, so with this dental savings plan, I mean, I don't know. I could slip and fall, and break a tooth, chip it, or something. And if I'd used up all of my insurance plan money, I can't get it fixed, unless I'm going to pay full price out of pocket.
But with the dental savings plan, I'm not held back to those limitations. You know, I can go ahead and get the work that needs to be done in a timely manner, you know? And I'm going to save money on the procedure, so working with Dr Hoop is easy. He makes things easy for his patients, and that's what I appreciate most. And they're thorough, like I said before.
I've had very weak teeth my whole life so they were beyond repair as far as for health reasons. They really did have to come out. So it was either to do a denture plate or implants. I chose for the implants. I have, I believe there's six on the bottom and on the lower back of my teeth. I had enough bone there so they could actually still put them in with ease. Again, I was very afraid, but however very painless.
Dr. Hoop and his staff, Joanie, I mean everyone here is just awesome. They make you feel so comfortable and through the whole thing they want to make sure you are comfortable and always ask, Everything okay? Everything okay? They follow up and call on how I'm doing the following day. They're just great. I just can't say enough about how wonderful they've been here. Very quickly done in a timely manner. Within a few months they were in and I've had them now for, gosh, it's gotta be a couple years. No problems, no issues.
They're just like your other teeth. They're awesome. Awesome. Definitely, definitely, definitely come and see Dr. Hoop. He works with you. You'll get the consultation. He'll go over every step, everything he needs before he proceeds. They'll work out a payment plan with you if that's necessary. Also what I've done is I've taken out Dr. Hoop's savings plan. I did have insurance where I work, however I opted to drop that and I went with Dr. Hoop's savings plan and it's working out perfect for me.
I had an accident about 12 and a half year's ago. A bad fall on a bike and I got banged up in a number of ways, but a large of my front teeth was part of it. We had a neighbor who was an orthodontist and knew Dr. Hoop and my wife called them and said, 'This is the guy you got to go see.' It was a Friday as a matter of fact and they were going to close early on Friday. It was around the holidays in December. Called them and they kept the office open. I don't mean they kept it open for an hour, they kept it open for all afternoon because it took a long time to deal with my teeth issues.
He just sat with me and talked with me for a while about it and looked around and tested certain areas and looked at certain areas and you just get the feeling talking to him that he really cares about what he does and he really cares about fixing your problem and as I said before, keeping you as comfortable as possible during the process. I felt from day one that I was in the right hands and that has never changed.
What ended up happening was Dr. Hoop to put a four-tooth bridge across here and it took a while to do the whole process, but once it was done it worked out terrifically. One of the things I was worried about was will they match my other teeth and of course Dr. Hoop, I mean he's relentless about that kind of stuff. 'I'll make sure I'll match it.' We spent a great deal of time actually on that and it turned out great. It matched up fine, everything blends. You wouldn't know if they're not my teeth, so I was very, very pleased with it. Very pleased.
Eating food is normal. I floss almost normally. Everything is perfectly normal. I almost never think about it anymore to be honest with you. Well, I have recommended some friends. They've called me up or I've seen friends that, 'You know, I'm looking for a good dentist. Do you have one you like?' I say, 'I've got the best. I have the best,' and I've had people call me back after they've come here and say, 'Bill, you were right. He's the best. He's really terrific.' They're still patients here today. It's really very simple. I think the guy's the best.
A tooth went bad, and he couldn't save it; so we had to pull them out. I have two of them. That's why you have a bridge. Decay gets it, you can't save it, root canal's not going to save it; so you pull it. Then, you put that fake tooth in.
You really can't tell that you have it. I mean, if you smile, you can't tell that it's fake at all. When you eat, you can't really tell it. It's just like your own tooth; it just doesn't have a root.
They match your natural teeth, so they don't look any different. They're really good at matching the color, too. I mean, you can't tell it by color. At least, he is. I've seen some people who have had, yeah, false teeth or a crown, where it's not the same color. You're kind of like looking at them like, 'Oh, okay.' Yeah. No, he's really good at that, very good at that.
He's just excellent. He's got a great personality. He's gentle. He's kind. I can't say enough about him; I really can't.
I've had three crowns with Doctor Hoop. Needed them because of some prior work that had been deteriorating over time and as a result of not having the insurance, or even going to the insurance that my employer provided, at these corporate offices, where it was a different game plan. I just didn't trust the work that was going to be done. Coming to Doctor Hoop was just night and day.
He lays it down in almost layman's terms to explain what the process is going to be. What the expectations are going to be. His focus is on you. When we did the root canals, it was quick, it was painless. So far, the one's I've had for the last couple of years, they've had no problems with. The crowns fit perfectly. They match the natural finish of my originating teeth, so I don't even notice they're there.
One of the biggest things I clearly respect Doctor Hoop for is after the first procedure I had, which was a root canal, he's calling me that night to check to see how I'm doing. I've never had that with any dentist in my life. That was very impressive. He actually cares for his patients, cares for our wellbeing.
He maintains my dental health. I come in four times a year for cleaning. His assistants do the cleaning and he keeps on top of my dental health and my peridontal health because I have peridontal disease. So, you have to really stay on top of that in order to retain your teeth. Well, it can give you heart issues. Before you even know you have it, you will have symptoms of gum pain and it's a subtle pain when it starts, and you'll have bad breath because it's the bacteria in there that causes the bad breath. Unfortunately, I had gone to a dentist regularly for many years and he was not very good, but I didn't know that. Somebody told me, 'Why don't you try this dentist over here?' I went to him and he said to me, 'How long have you had periodontal disease?' I'm like, 'What?' I didn't even know it had it. He finally got me convinced that I need to floss every day and I do without missing it at all. That's mainly what I do, but I've always brushed twice a day, sometimes three times a day so that's nothing new. But, that's what I do to try to prevent the periodontal disease from getting worse. He's got me on a regimen right now where we're trying to save my old teeth.
TMJ. I've had it for years. Grinding pain, headaches, teeth hurt, so because of that, I needed to get a grind guard or bite plate that I sleep with every night. I've had one in the past and he changed me to a different one and it's great. I don't wake up and my jaw doesn't hurt when I wake up, and I haven't worn away the rest of the crowns in my mouth.
I probably came here not having the healthiest gums. In my life, I've had gum issues. Dr. Hoop has been very good about my cleaning and staying abreast of any deterioration that I have. I normally have ... My teeth are cleaned three times a year. I stay very regular, especially since I've had the implants. My gums have maintained their health very, very well.
It's one-stop shopping, you know what I mean. I come here, and that's what I was looking for. A company or a family that would take care of ... Clean my teeth and have the ability to furnish the needs that I have beyond that.
I have recommended Dr. Hoop to several of our friends, and several people have came to Dr. Hoop for dental care. I always tell them that I think you will just thoroughly enjoy the family atmosphere here. The technicians are great to work with. Dr. Hoop will be very up front about what it's going to cost to fix your teeth, what procedure he'd like to do; and I just highly recommend Dr. Hoop to a lot of my friends.
I've been coming here for almost 20 years. Dr. Hoop is gentle and thoughtful and caring. He has done extractions. He's done root canals .He's done crowns. He's done bridges and the first bridge I had to have the tooth taken out because it was just coming apart and had to be totally removed and I had a bridge put in there.
The one in the front that I had done was really weird but it was a decay in the root in my gum. The tooth was fine. It was the root that wasn't going to get better, so he said it has to be done and there were four different options. Actually Dr. Hoop said at that point he would suggest a bridge, and being I had the crowns already, that's exactly what I ended up with and I'm very happy with them.
If there's an option to be given, you will be given an option. Even the option he gave me on this was, 'Or you could just leave it out.' I said, 'I choose not on that one.' I feel comfortable and confident with Dr. Hoop that he knows what he's doing and that he's going to do the best for me so that I won't be in excess pain any more than I have to be of discomfort.
Like I said, I had no discomfort whatsoever when I had the front tooth pulled and I was concerned about that. He does talk to you about what's happening and what he's doing, and that's very important. In matching up the colors again, I think they're just fine and it's given me a better quality of life, yes.
So, I think between my husband and me we had been to five dentists in about eight years, in Naples, and just did not hit on an office where we felt like we were getting good service, or that we were important to the dental office. Everybody here is really pleasant, easy to get along with; we look forward to seeing them. Same staff for years on end; it's not a churn in this office, which has been a problem with some other offices that we were at. Sometimes I'd go in for a followup in the middle of a procedure, and it was a completely different team in the front and in the back of the office, so one of the reasons that I came here. I think Donna thought I was a little nuts the first time I called, because I said, 'How long have you worked here?' And she's like, 'Well, let me think now. It's been years.' But it's really important for me that I see the same people every time I come in. It gives me a sense of security, especially when somebody's working in your mouth.
They really do practice pain-free dentistry. They do not want me to be uncomfortable. And as much as you can relax sitting in a chair with somebody in your mouth, it really ... it's kind of hard to explain, but they do, they take the time to put you at ease before they start on any procedure, he's always checking in with me in the middle of a procedure to find out how I'm doing. Dr. Hoop is really knowledgeable. You know, he's got advanced degrees, he knows a lot about oral hygiene but he doesn't preach; he's not a preachy kind of a guy. The staff is really nice and we've been coming here ever since. We've never had a problem. I've referred other people here with kids. Everybody has been really, really happy with this dental practice. We really like Dr. Hoop; he's a genuine guy, and we enjoy talking to him.
Well, no one's excited about coming to the dentist, but I've been a client of Dr. Hoop's now since 1998, so I've been here for a while and I was referred to him by another dentist to have some specialty work done and I decided to stay. Dr. Hoop says, 'Well,' he says, 'I'm not in the habit of taking permanently patients from other dentists.' He doesn't sort abscond other dentist's patients. I say, 'But, what if it's my choice?' He says, 'Well, if it's your choice,' he says, 'That's different.' So, then I started coming here on a regular basis and one thing I like about it is he's very thorough. His staff has been with him for a number of years, so every time I come in, I know that I'm going to see the same person.
It's not, I've got Jane this visit and then the next visit, I've got somebody else that I don't know and it's like ongoing, there's no turnover. That tells me a couple of things. Number one, his staff likes working here and obviously, he's got a good work environment for them. I take all of this things into consideration because if they're happy here, then they're going to make me happy to come here. Like I said, nobody's excited about going to the dentist, but if you're going to go, you want to be in an environment where you're comfortable, where the staff is pleasant and you know that the staff cares about you.
The overall atmosphere? Friendly, like you're in your own living room. You know, the girls are very friendly. Dr. Hoop is great. He converses with you. It doesn't have to be all about work or all about dentistry. You can call him any time. He'll call you back. Leave a message, he'll call you back if you're having a problem or anything.
Nobody has more anxiety than me and the dentist I used to go with retired, and I had a hard time finding one that I connected with. Someone told me about Dr. Hoop. I came here. Immediately I felt comfortable and he has never ever hurt me. To me that's important because that's where the anxiety comes from, when you know you're going to come in and something's going to hurt.
I had the dental savings plan this year. When I first started seeing Dr. Hoop, a couple years ago, I came in with a dental PPO plan from my employer, which allowed me to choose any dentist I want to, it wasn't like a DHMO where I was stuck going to ... again, in this area, I'm limited to corporate dental -inaudible- offices, no standalone dentists like Dr. Hoop. When I would come in, they would give me a breakdown to show, 'Hey, this is what your out-of-pocket's going to be with a dental PPO.' Of course, dental PPO has an annual maximum. Within probably about four or five months, I was already out of that and I was paying out of pocket, using my health savings account. Whenever I would come in, Donna would show me the breakdown of how much the dental PPO, or even a dental HMO, was being applied to my charges and how much the dental savings plan would save me.
After I was finished with the coverage from my employer's insurance, that's when I went into the dental savings plan. Then last year, at the end of the year, my employer does the annual benefit enrollment and I made the decision not even to enroll in their ... They have three different companies that they offer for dental insurance, didn't even take one of them, any one of them. I use the dental savings plan instead. If any family member or a friend was asking for a dentist anywhere here in the Fort Myers or Naples area, I would highly recommend Dr. Hoop, without any hesitation.
Both my wife and I, we were at another dentist, upon our arrival in Naples, and we were there for two, three, probably four years, and we felt somewhat pressured to do extra things, and sign up for extra. So, we finally decided to look for someone who was just a dentist and could care for our teeth, and in doing so, we found near our home here, within a mile-and-a-half, Dr. Hoop is here, and Dr. Hoop does periodontal, and I've had a history, and just everyone in our family, due to the teeth structure and growth that not perfect, have had periodontal challenges, and Dr. Hoop, when he found some of that, maybe two years into working with Dr. Hoop, he could satisfy that right in this office.
It just seemed painless, the periodontal work that he did, compared to prior periodontal work that I had twice. I think it's just his general manner, that he's certainly doesn't seem rushed, or doesn't seem urgent to get me taken care of and rolled out so he can roll in the next one. No, he takes time to do it right. I would even say the pain reducer, or the painkiller that they injected, he is very skillful with that, compared to how you do not look forward to that particular event before a big procedure like the periodontal. He's just excellent.
It's helped a great deal, including even their advice for how I work on it at home, or in the car, or whatever, with the tools that I keep handy, to make sure I don't trap carrot pieces, or those kinds of things that get lodged in there and cause some issues. You feel better if you don't have that going on, because you can taste it, and you know it's there, and you're self-conscious of it, but to have it under control just makes life more pleasant.
When I was in New York, I spent more time at my periodontist than I did at my dentist. Dr Hoop does a lot of periodontal work, so it was sort of like one person filled both things. He was recommended by a friend, and I love it here. I mean, he does great work. He's the best shot giver there is. I have a phobia with shots in my mouth, and literally, if you close your eyes, you don't even know you're getting a shot. Little, little prick, that's it.
There's a big link between periodontal disease and heart disease, and if I remember correctly, it's the same type of bacteria that goes from periodontal disease to heart disease, so you really have to take care of it, keep on top of it, that type of thing. I have a whole regime that I do with my teeth every day, but it keeps them healthy, and since I've come here, and really ... Sherry was the one, because Sherry actually showed me the tissue that she took ... when they do the deep cleaning, the tissue she took out, which was the bad tissue, so it was like, 'Whoa.' You know, it was a wake-up call, and I like that. It shows you how important it was.
I have four deep cleanings a year, so I adore Sherry. I think she does the best job. So you come in. They put the numbing on your gums. Then they clean more than a dentist would clean. Like, normally you would have to go to a periodontist to have it done, and they call you that afternoon, they call you in the next day, to make sure everything's okay, 'Is there any problem?' If there's any problem, you could call him. He would get you right in. You know, I like that, that you don't have to worry about, 'Oh, I have to wait four days before I can see him' type of thing.
My option was dentures, and after seeing how implants, how good they are to you, I elected that, and I'm not been sorry at all.
It is expensive. It is well worth the expense, but we knew exactly what it was going to cost when we went in to the procedure.
There is a process of anxiety that goes with your dental experience, and I experienced that. I've gone through that myself. I wouldn't say that I look forward to coming to the dentist when I have the implant work done, but by the same token, Dr. Hoop and his group here are just like family, and they help put you at ease when you walk in the door, and when you go through your process. I would look back on my experience, and I've been very happy with the way they have treated me, and all the employees here at Dr. Hoop's.
When it was all said and done, it was well worth the time spent, and the new teeth, it's just like your normal teeth when they were healthy.
I came here and I needed to either get an implant, dental implant, or else a bridge. I had had a problem with a root canal from ages. I had three root canals in one tooth. I asked him what would you do. We had lengthy discussions on it. I never felt pressured and we discussed which one I needed. He recommended the bridge because of my bone. It would take a long time to do that and we weren't sure if it was going to take, basically, and it was nice because it was a cheaper option, less expensive.
It worked and never had one problem with it. I'd had problems with that side of my mouth for quite a while, a couple of years. I have no pain. I can chew on that side of my mouth. It's just very comfortable. I don't even know it's there.
Absolutely. The dental savings plan is a pretty neat program. In fact, I even have dental insurance through my employer, and this is a better plan. Dental insurance has limitations as to what they'll provide annually. This plan has no limit basically to what you can benefit in a year's time, plus you get the X-rays, you get the cleanings. You get all that included just like a dental insurance plan provides as well. To me, it was a no-brainer, but that would definitely be the thing to do if you're considering any sort of cosmetic work, because you know, it's not super expensive but it could cost, like any good thing does. That's a no-brainer. Definitely do it. I keep it in place now. I still use the dental savings plan now. God forbid you need a crown. That pays for itself right there.
I would recommend Dr. Hoop and the team here for any dental reason, whether it was a cleaning or getting a cavity fixed or getting a crown done. I've had all of the above done here, believe it or not, and they're really smooth at what they do. I think they're very efficient. Everybody's real nice, and I think they do a great job, has never really been in pain, which I remember going to the dentist as a kid. It wasn't very fun, but this is not a problem. I think he just knows what he's doing. Even when he gave me the shot, the novocaine or whatever it is they inject to make you go numb before they will drill your tooth, he's got this way that he grabs you. He knows right what he's doing, and he puts the needle right in the spot. I mean, you don't even feel it go in. It's kind of remarkable really.
I just love Dr. Hoop. I've been to many, many dentists in my whole lifetime and I moved to Naples and did not know a dentist and was referred to him. I get very afraid of dentistry being done with the extensive work I needed to have done, but I came here and they were awesome. They're just wonderful. They made me feel at ease, did not make me feel ashamed of what was going on with my teeth situation, and they just took it from there. I've been with them, gosh, it has to be at least 16 years.
They have naturally filled fillings. They have done implants. My whole lower ... I've had implants in the back. I've had all my front teeth capped and I also had a partial upper plate put in. I can smile again. I know that may be an understatement for people to hear all the time, but it's so true. I can look back at pictures of myself before and now, and my smile was never ... It was just closed lips. Now I'm smiling with my teeth. It's awesome. It's awesome. My confidence is back. It's just great, and the compliments I have gotten, that people don't even know that they're either capped or that they're implants, it looks so natural.
Finally I had talked to him one day. I said, 'Hey, I really want to get these teeth straightened out,' because my two front teeth over here used to be kind of turned in like this and they were jagged and crooked. Then I chipped one of them and it just got real bad, and I was conscious of it, not to mention the fact that it was kind of cutting my tongue. It was bad, so I said, 'Doc, what can we do?'
The program that I came in that ultimately I chose to go with here was called Six Month Smiles. There's a bracket that they add to your tooth, but it was pretty much nobody noticed it, and I'd point out to them, 'Hey, look. Look at my,' 'Oh, my gosh, you're wearing like braces.' I said, 'Yeah. Kind of that's what they are. I was just getting my teeth fixed, you know.' I mean they might notice it a little bit after you had a salad because you might get a little piece stuck in it, but Doc was great. He hooked me up with a certain type of toothbrush that has a rotary thing on it and it was great for cleaning the teeth every day. I had no problems with that at all.
My teeth were pretty complicated, so it took a little longer than six months, but I'm happy that I did it. Really it was a big step to take for a guy in his mid-40s, but I did it and I'm really glad that I did. Everybody is constantly saying, 'Wow, your teeth look so nice.' Your friends that see you all the time, they don't even remember what your old teeth used to look like, but boy, I tell you, I keep a picture of my old teeth, because he photographed them too for the before and the after, but wow, it was an amazing difference.
I'm very happy about it, and as a sales guy I think that it's important that you fix your teeth and have them looking good because I notice now more people's teeth. There's a lot of people out there who should sign up. Some people's teeth are a little out of whack, and they're nowhere near as bad as mine were, and they don't realize how easy it is to fix.
It was reasonably priced I thought and I couldn't believe how quickly the process took. I was afraid it would be years on these things, like braces typically are for kids. You know, they're in these things forever, and it wasn't like that at all.
